The surrounding area

Podere San Paolo is the ideal starting point to visit both the cities of art and the impressive nature of Tuscany.

The mountains are only 2 km away from the B&B. There you will have the chance to walk following signaled hiking trails, and to nip into breathtaking abandoned hermitages.

If you want to enjoy a relaxing and comforting day instead, then the Bagni di Pisa – the ancient Roman spa of San Giuliano Terme – would be the perfect choice.

About 5 km away from us you will find the San Rossore Regional Park, once property of the Savoia Royal House, the ideal place to take nice walks surrounded by the countryside with the possibility of joining guided horse rides.

No further than 10 km you will find Marina di Pisa and Tirrenia, with their beachfronts equipped for visitors, or you can go for Marina di Vecchiano if you prefer a more wild-looking shore.

Tuscany is celebrated worldwide for its cities of art. They are all easily reachable from the Podere.

Lucca is 20 km far from our B&B. With its renowned walls surrounding a lovely old town centre, the city is also well-known for events such as the Lucca Comics and Games, the Lucca Summer and the Lucca Film Festivals.

Carrara is only 60 km far. The city is famous for the breathtaking landscape of the Alpi Apuane and the marble quarries, raw material for the major masterpieces of the Italian history of the arts.

The same distance is between us and the towns of Volterra and San Gimignano. The first is a historical Etruscan city, while the second is renowned for its tower houses.

Firenze does not need any further introduction: the jewel of the Italian Renaissance is only 90 km far from the B&B.

Last but not least, Siena is about 120 km from the Podere. With its medieval town centre and the far-famed Palio, it is one of the most attractive cities of our region.
